Turun Linna

Outside of the castle.
This past week I had the awesome opportunity of finally visiting the castle here in Turku no only once, but twice. As I've written before Turku holds a lot of history and is also the oldest city here in Finland. Because of this, there are many different old and gorgeous buildings that still stand to this day. One of these includes Turun Linna, which in translation means Turku Castle. On Thursday, 09/13/12, some friends and I visited the castle and walked around the entire castle! We decided to just go on our own opposed to taking a guided tour and I definitely think that was the best option. We probably spent a good 2-3 hours in the castle walking from room to room, exploring and soaking up all of the incredible history that it held. The rooms seemed to go on for miles and just when you thought it would end, it only continued! I was so happy that I finally had a chance to go (it was on my "finland bucket list") and now I can check it off the list!

On Tuesday, 09/18/12, I actually had another chance to visit the castle again to do a photoshoot with Sanni-Vera, a friend I know from school. She has a lovely little fashion blog & check out her post about our photoshoot here ---> (http://sanni-vera.blogspot.fi/2012/09/turku-castle.html

I had an assignment in art class to do a photography project (finally, something I'm good at!) And we
had to incorporate anything of our choice with architecture. Knowing I had already taken pictures at the castle of the buildings themselves during my first visit I decided to continue on with the idea and incorporate what I love to do most, portraits! And so, from this photoshoot with Sanni-Vera I decided to use a couple of the final images to turn in for my photography project :) Here's some of the results!

And for the last image, my favorite from the collection!
