Skysky // Lokakuu

It feels as though October (Lokakuu) has just begun and yet here I am typing this, on the evening of the 22nd.. already three weeks into the "new" month. It's been a month of transition to say the least. And by this I mean both within the earth around me, as well as within myself. I don't mean to sound so cheesy by saying "I'm a changed person" because I'm definitely not, but things are in fact changing - and I think overall, it's a good thing. Being on exchange is like a never ending journey. Everyday you're learning something new, seeing something new, meeting someone new. You have many adventures and lots of memories are made constantly. And what better way is it than to share these memories with all of you?

Erik - Exhange Student from Michigan, USA
Currently living in Raisio, 15 km away from Turku.
On the 1st of October Lu-Wei and I decided to randomly adventure to a town close by, Raisio. Our dear exchange-friend Erik lives there and had always invited us to come and hangout, but it had never happened until today. It was a rather spontaneous type of trip - because although the city was close, neither of us had been there before... we hadn't even known what bus stop to get off of! It was a lot of fun and was a nice change of things getting outside of the city, even if it was only for a short afternoon. All of us talked and laughed and sat under this bridge like complete bums in the freezing cold in the afternoon's hours. I have to say though, it was completely worth it. Friends truly do make life so much better.

October 3rd

Lu-Wei and I had the week off of school (accept for on Monday, due to a spanish exam) because this week was exam week for our school. Being exchange-students who have already graduated high school, it's not required for us to take exams - only when the teachers requests for us to, do we have to take the exam (like spanish & english for me)  And so, due to not having school it was a nice mini-holiday for the two of us! On Wednesday we decided to go ahead and still go to our Rotary club meeting - bright and early at 7:30 A.M. in the morning! And then afterwords left the city and went over to Lu-Wei's house to cuddle up on this rainy day and watch movies. As we started to go through her host families movie collection we started to make a pile of all the movies we had hoped to watch... slowly watching the pile get bigger and bigger. This picture is the result after going through all of the movies. I'd say it ended up being a good 30 movies or so? Well, at least we won't be saying we're bored anytime soon!
