Just another Wednesday in Finland

October 10th, 2012.

Just another school day, or at least that's what you would think! To be honest though I don't think any day as an exchange student would be considered as "just another day." Everyday there's something new, adventures just waiting to happen.

In art class today we had a field trip to the modern art museum in our city, Turku.
I had already been to the other art museum (traditional? classic?) last month,
but this was my first time going to this specific museum. It was definitely different
but also really fascinating to see! I'm glad our teacher.. although crazy at times,
still takes the time to show us around the city and experience all of the surrounding art.

After school I went on a field trip with this well-beings course that I had joined awhile back. It was our first trip with the class and we were going to Raisio, a town about 15 km from Turku, where we visited the food factory. At this factory they made a bunch of different kinds of product, but one of the most popular of them all was Elovena.

At the factory we cooked a bunch of different recipes together as a class out of the products that the factory made. Everyone split into different teams and we all made our separate dishes. It took an hour or so to make/bake everything and once everything was finished guess what?! We got to eat it all! It was a lot of fun and of course - I enjoyed trying all the different sorts of foods. At the end of the visit we got to also take home our own bags of product which had a box of outmeal, a box of the cookie snacks, and one of the protein shakes. And the best part about it all? It was all free! :)

Aino in the kitchen, where I always tend to photograph her.

After the visit we had left and went back to the city. I hung out with my friend Sandra for awhile and we went to a few random stores as well as this darling little vintage shop! I found myself a really cut red and white polka-dot silk scarf that just screams the 1940's. I simply adore it! Sandra then went home and I made myself go to the gym just as I had promised myself that I would. It ended up being a really good workout though and I felt great afterwords. Since I had some time to kill after my class before catching my bus back home I was able to take a walk in the crisp nights air and walk along the river. I made sure to take some photographs of the city lights and river boats all lit up - it was absolutely stunning! I love my city.

In the city center of Turku!
My city's so beautiful! <3
& by the river!
