cafe latte where do I even begin? For starters, I suppose that I could say that the beginning stages of syksy (autumn) has officially started to appear. What else sounds more perfect than to spend your afternoons in a small little kahvi shop with dear friends, good music, and delicious latte's? Nothing, I tell you.

Oskari playing guitar // Candid |
It's now been over one month since I've been here in Finland and life is really, well, starting to feel more like life. What I mean by this is that living here doesn't feel so much like a vacation or a dream anymore, but instead everything has now become a reality. In doing so I have started to really get comfortable around my house and family, have adjusted to this new lifestyle, and best of all I have made some really dear friends. On my 2nd week of school I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting my dear oldie Lu-Wei (note: I'll be talking about what the term "oldie" means in my next blog post, stay tuned.) She's an exchange student from Australia whose been here in Finland since January and she goes to my school. When she first started school we decided to take some courses together and we had quickly bounded. Before you knew it, we became very dear friends and started to really get to know one another.

Lu-Wei & I in art class // photo taken by Oskari |
One of the classes that we ended up taking together was art. You see, the thing is I would generally consider myself an "artsy" person... but that was until I had art in lukio, especially with our teacher! We seriously do the weirdest things and I definitely am not so good at them. But having friends in this coarse probably makes it the most fun class out of them all! And that leads to the third person to this trio, Oskari. Oskari is somebody whom Lu-Wei and I had randomly met through art class because of the fact that he was Finnish and neither of us ever understood what we were actually supposed to do. He soon became a translator for us, but then quickly realizing how well we all got along we started to talk more and more. Before you knew it we were walking down the street to what would be our new favorite spot to be - Cafe latte.

Cafe Latte is this cute little cafe about a block from my school which is owned by a French man (who's name I can't remember atm) who will only speak English with his customers, even though he knows Finnish. This cafe is a very well-known spot for Lu-Wei as she had spent many winter days here - quickly become friends with the owner. Although the cafe is rather small, in the back of it there's this cozy little room that customers are allowed to hangout in. This room has a extremely comfy couch & chair as well as a piano and a guitar without an E string. One day Lu-Wei, Oskari and I decided to go check out this cafe as a trio and before you knew it the owner knew us all by our first names. Now, nearly every day after school or in between our free periods you can find us sitting on these comfy chairs all warm and cozy, sipping on our latte's, playing music together and talking about everything that comes to mind. Now can you agree that this sounds like the perfect way to spend your autumn days? Well, at least I'd like to think so.
