Travel Diary's: Stockholm, Sweden

StockholmSweden

had the awesome opportunity to travel to Sweden just a few days after Christmas with my current family (family #2) They had an extra ticket so they told me I could invite a friend for company if I wanted. Originally, I invited Lu-Wei but due to her leaving the country so soon I went ahead and asked another friend. My beautiful & wonderful friend, Marissa (from Minnesota, USA), came along with us! Her and I met first on our day trip to NYC when we had to get our residence permits for coming to Finland. Ever since then, we've really connected and have enjoyed following each others lives and journeys, as they seem to have a lot of similarity's. We all left from Helsinki in the evening on December 28th, 2012. My host family and I got to the city a few hours earlier than we needed to so that we were able to go to lunch before boarding the ship. We went to Hard Rock Cafe, Helsinki. A tradition that my host parents have been doing for years (everywhere they travel they always go to the Hard Rock Cafe in all the cities... they hadn't yet been to Helsinki's)

The boat left at 6 p.m. on the 28th of December and arrived the next morning in Stockholm, Sweden. We were then able to get off the boat and explore the city for about 6 hours before having to board again. Being right after Christmas there were many sales going on in all of the shops. Marissa and I went to our own stores, while my parents & host sisters went to theirs. Swedish style and fashion is honestly to die for! To all my girlfriends out there, you would fall completely in love just as I did! Sadly though, being rushed with time and not having been to many of the stores before it became rather overwhelming.. so neither of us bought all that much, but of course we still did gawk ;)

After doing some shopping we met back up with my host family and all of us made our way into this darling little cafe located in the old town of the city where I had this delicious chicken salad sandwich and a hazelnut latte! Mmmm, can you say YUM?!

After lunch we proceeded to walk around parts of Old Town in the city, but sadly we didn't have too much time to explore a whole lot... plus it was extremely cold outside. I was still able to snap a few photo's but not do much besides that. I am really hoping that I'll be able to visit this city once again, perhaps in the spring//summer when it's warmer outside. It was so beautiful and I'd love to explore & see more of it!!

When we boarded the ship again in the evening we spent the night exploring the ship, having dinner, watching a drag queen show that was performed at two different times in the evening, and simply enjoying everything that was included! It was a fun night and I enjoyed having the company of a friend with me :) Overall, the trip was a great experience and I am honestly so happy & blessed to have been able to do such a thing! Thanks hosts!
