18th Birthday Celebrations pt. 2

September 20th & 21st

Continuing with my 1st post about my 18th birthday, I want to continue to write about the amazing weekend that I had - starting from September 20th to the23rd. On the day of my actual birthday I started off the day completely right and it only continued to get better from there. I got to spend my day with good company, sweet treats and coffee, and lots and lots of laughter. Later in the evening I went to this darling Chinese/Thai restaurant with all three of my host families! It was wonderful! Considering this was the first time I had met some of my future host families, it was really nice to be able to talk to them and get to know everyone a little bit better. All three of my families honestly seem so wonderful and I am excited to have the experience to be able to live not just with one family, but three of them.

On Friday evening I was able to spend some time with some lovely friends by going out to dinner & enjoying some great company once again. I had a great time & really am blessed to have such lovely people in my life here in Finland!

My darling best friend & dear oldie, Lu-Wei & I!

I left bright & early Saturday morning with my host family to make our way towards Helsinki to catch our ferry to Tallinn, Estonia! The amazing surprise that they had told me the morning of my birthday :) We had to drive 2 hours to Helsinki, and then had a 2 hour ferry ride to Estonia. It was such an exciting and anticipating trip! This was my first time being outside of the country since being in Finland and I wouldn't have wanted to experience it any other way, everything was wonderful.

September 22nd-23rd

When we arrived in Tallinn we got off the ferry and went to our hotel to drop off all of our bags, then pretty much immediately went to Old Town - which if you ask me it's definitely the best part about the city. If you don't know anything about Old Town.. Tallinn... or even Estonia, you should definitely look it up if you're curious! I honestly barely knew anything about the country but thought it was such a great experience to go and see it myself! I am no expert on the history though, so I don't want to write much about it because I don't want to get the facts wrong! Haha. Walking through all of Old Town was a really neat experience though because you could tell that it held so much of this history, and that's by far one awesome feeling.
