Travels Pt. 1: Seinäjoki

Last week, before the Easter holiday I had left at the beginning of the week to travel a bit up north to visit some good friends of mine who live in a city called Seinäjoki. I had never been before, and although I have traveled via train many times throughout the year I've realized it's only been between Helsinki-Turku. It was a nice change of scenery going somewhere new though and I really enjoyed the few days that I had spent there! The train was a short trip of only 3 hours or so, and it flew by quicker than ever. On a side note, it's awesome because the trains here in Finland generally have free wifi and chargers so you're able to use your laptop/phone/ipod, whatever. Back to what I was saying, though! I realized during my travels that I now feel very much like I'm in the roll of these last months of my exchange. For instance, towards the beginning of my exchange (or even before coming to study abroad) I would've been so nervous and hesitant to do something even as simple as travel from one city to another on my own. Whereas now, I'm fully confident in not only traveling solo but also just everything that comes along in the package. I'm not ever nervous or scared to not have a plan, go with the flow, or try something new. And with that, traveling to new places. It makes me excited to see what new and amazing opportunity's that I'll be able to come across with traveling these next few years of my life -- and hopefully even many after then. My list of places I wish to travel to almost seems never-ending, but I have faith that within good timing I'll be able to check many of those places off my list. After all, I think that I have had a pretty good start this year. ;)
I had the opportunity to spend the days Mon-Thurs visiting two close friends of mine, Lauren & Konsta, alongside being able to attend their school & meet their friends, too. It was a really great time being able to spend time in a different city and also atmosphere, alongside of course spending a lot of time with close friends of mine. Throughout my days there I took near-to-none photo's, which in one way is a bummer... but yet in another, I think the memories were worth the time in itself. Overall, I was really happy to be able to have the opportunity to go!

Randomly, I also had the opportunity to meet up with someone who I had met only once before at a district meeting with my Rotary club back home in Indiana. Henna, the girl I met, was the first Finn whom I had ever met in the USA and her and I promised each other that at some point during my year on exchange, we would meet up here in Finland! Not even at the time knowing where it was that I'd be living. Turns out though, she lives less than an hour away from Seinäjoki  , and so she suggested to come drive there so we could finally meet up! It was awesome seeing each other, and honestly hard to believe that already so much time has seemed to pass in  everything. It was a really nice time though walking around, drinking coffee, and simply catching up on life & talking about our exchange.

Overall, I had a great time traveling & seeing friends and hopefully I'll be able to do the same once again!
